Axalta Takes Its Market-Leading Fast Cure Low Energy Technology To The Next Level
Axalta Coating Systems has announced the launch of its next-generation patented Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) surfacer technology across the Australia and New Zealand refinish market.
Building on the proven success of Axalta’s FCLE platform globally, the latest technology delivers exceptional refinish quality with even greater productivity benefits, helping repairers increase throughput while potentially reducing energy consumption during the drying process.
Jim Iliopoulos, Product & Technical Manager at Axalta ANZ, says: “We are excited that our Fast Cure Low Energy repair system is now even better. Already recognised as a fast and productive coating solution, it now offers increased durability while continuing to support sustainability and meeting OEM specifications – opening new opportunities for forward-thinking bodyshops.
This next generation launch was designed for demanding and productivity-focused bodyshops across the region who are looking for the ultimate in efficiency and throughput. Without question, this is the smarter system for smarter energy savings.”
Axalta delivers the FCLE system through three of its leading premium refinish brands:
- Cromax – Ultra Performance Energy System
- Spies Hecker – Speed-TEC product family
- Standox – Xtreme System
The first product to be launched is the next-generation surfacer - which maintains the high productivity and excellent performance of previous FCLE surfacers - while reducing complexity for repairers by combining sanding and non-sanding (wet-on-wet) applications into one product.
Refinishers no longer need to choose between separate sanding and wet-on-wet products - helping workshops reduce stockholding, streamline ordering and simplify application processes without compromising finish quality.
With low-bake and air-dry capability, the FCLE surfacer system supports bodyshops seeking to lower energy consumption while maintaining high throughput. Globally, FCLE technology has demonstrated the potential to save up to 50% in gas and up to 48% in electricity usage due to reduced baking requirements.
Early trials have had very positive feedback. Gerome Macri of Damage Control Accident Repair Centre in Western Australia, stated:
“Axalta have taken an already great primer line and made some very logical enhancements. From a primer filler perspective, we are seeing higher build with the same fast cure and easy application. On the non-sanding side, flash-off is still very short, with improved hiding over black OEM primer. The finish is flat, easy to de-nib if needed, and overspray lays down nicely without extra work. Best of all, having one set of ancillary products keeps inventory and mixing simple, reducing the risk of errors.”
As part of the next generation FCLE evolution, the new surfacer technology is available now through Axalta’s distribution network. The clearcoat technology is scheduled for release in Australia and New Zealand in mid to late 2026.
