IAG launched it's third Smash Repair Quality Program Annual Report at The Royal Automobile Club of Australia in Sydney today.

The Quality Program, which monitors repairs, identifies quality issues and addresses poor quality workmanship, has conducted approximately 170,000 vehicle inspections over the past four years.

Highlights of the 2014/15 report include:

  • NSW Partner Repairer potential safety-related rectification rates are 4 times better than Non-Partner Repairers (compared with 2 ½ times better in 2013/14)

  • In NSW, just 0.004% of all vehicles assessed for repairs were found to have a potential safety issue. This amounted to 5 repairs – a reduction of 85% on the previous year

  • The National rate of potential safety issues found in 2014/15 was 0.006%, with a total of 14 issues identified – a fall of 72.5% when compared to the previous year

  • The number of Quality Inspections performed by IAG Assessors over the 12 month period rose 23% to 47,865

IAG says the report highlighted the general high standard across all repairers – in NSW and nationally - in relation to the total of 14 potential safety issues identified.

IAG is the only insurer in Australia with a fully resourced and dedicated Quality Program to publish statistics on quality and safety issues.
