Advanced automotive technology is taking a starring role in a new international television series, with Spanish manufacturer Hispano Suiza placing its electric Carmen Sagrera hypercar into the narrative of Prime Video’s technology drama Day One.

The six-part series, set in Barcelona, explores the opportunities and risks associated with rapid technological development. Hispano Suiza’s flagship electric hypercar appears as part of that environment, reinforcing the role of advanced mobility engineering within a broader digital and innovation ecosystem.

The production itself is closely tied to the global technology sector. Filming took place at several major research and innovation facilities across Barcelona, including the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the ALBA Synchrotron research facility and the city’s 22@ innovation district. Other locations include Pompeu Fabra University, the Collserola Tower telecommunications site and the Torre Glòries viewpoint, placing the city’s technology ecosystem at the centre of the narrative.

Within this environment, the Carmen Sagrera hypercar serves as a contemporary representation of advanced mobility technology. The vehicle was unveiled in 2024 to mark Hispano Suiza’s 120th anniversary and forms part of the company’s growing range of high-performance electric hypercars.

The car was also showcased during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, one of the world’s largest technology gatherings, where the brand linked the vehicle’s engineering development to broader discussions around digital innovation and future mobility.

During the congress, the Carmen Sagrera was displayed in the event’s Talent Arena, highlighting the relationship between advanced vehicle engineering, digital creativity and emerging technology talent.

A roundtable discussion held as part of the event also examined the technological challenges facing the automotive sector, including the impact of regulation, cybersecurity and the increasing integration of vehicles with digital infrastructure. The discussion featured Hispano Suiza CEO Sergio Martínez Campos and technical director Juan Fernández.

“For our brand, being part of Day One means bringing a vehicle that represents our technological vision and our commitment to innovation to screens around the world,” Martínez Campos said.

“Since our origins, Hispano Suiza has been closely linked to technological development, and participating in a production set around the Mobile World Congress reinforces that connection with the global ecosystem of technology and mobility of the future.”

Directed by Marta Pahissa and Víctor Cuadrado, Day One consists of six 45-minute episodes and premiered globally on Prime Video. The collaboration forms part of Hispano Suiza’s broader strategy to connect automotive engineering with the wider technology and digital innovation landscape.
