Hail.com has been developing AI based software and hail scanners to be able to detect automotive hail damage since Since 2017. PLC (programmable logic controller) controlled linear drives move the scanner over the vehicle while the customer remains inside. The accuracy of this controlled speed over the vehicles body allows for perfect correlation with the AI software, something that was problematic in Hail.com's first generation scanner, which was also a drive through arrangement. As the HAIL3D’s 18 cameras pass over the vehicles surface they capture thousands of images that are processed into a detailed quotation.

In 2023 the company released its generation 3 scanning tunnel followed this year by launch of its HAAP (Hail Audit and Assessing Portal). This portal allows for true desktop assessments of hail damaged vehicles, without the need to have the assessor on site. It allows assessors review the full AI processed videos (not still images) and, if required, the damage can be watched frame by frame.

Hail.com is, principally, a hail damage repair company, and has been so since the late 90’s. Recognising the financial cost and loss of BAU on assessing teams, the company has developed this simple to use, yet highly effective assessing portal.
