Collision repair estimators will have another opportunity to strengthen their technical and systems knowledge when the BodyShop Solutions Foundations Course returns to Queensland in September.

Developed by BodyShop Solutions founder Jasmine De Wys and delivered in partnership with the Motor Trades Association of Queensland, the one-day course aims to bridge a training gap between understanding how vehicles are repaired and accurately capturing those operations within estimating systems.

The next course will be held on September 9, following previous sessions in Queensland and elsewhere around Australia. Registrations are now open through MTA Queensland.

De Wys developed the course independently, drawing on around 20 years of collision repair industry experience, including approximately a decade working directly with leading parts and estimation software platforms.

The Foundations Course takes what De Wys describes as a two-lens approach to estimating.

The first examines vehicle and industry knowledge, including understanding how a vehicle should actually be repaired. The second concentrates on the systems estimators use every day, particularly AudaNet, iBodyShop and PartsCheck, and how information flows between them.

BodyShop Solutions says the challenge for many collision repair businesses is not necessarily knowing how to repair a vehicle, but ensuring every legitimate repair operation, process and part is accurately captured within the estimating and workflow systems.

The full-day, hands-on program works through real claims and covers estimate structure, cross-system workflows, repair methods, ADAS and supplementary estimates.

Participants in previous courses have also worked through real-world scenarios using live systems, including workflow challenges, estimate structure and the sequencing of information between platforms.

The emphasis is particularly relevant as modern collision repair becomes increasingly complex. Missing seemingly minor operations can affect not only the accuracy of an estimate but workshop scheduling, invoicing and ultimately profitability.

BodyShop Solutions says insufficient understanding of the interaction between AudaNet, iBodyShop and PartsCheck can result in legitimate operations being missed, while errors made at the estimating stage can flow through the entire repair process and contribute to invoicing delays and rework.

The Foundations Course has already been delivered to repairers around Australia and received strong participant feedback, with the September program continuing the national rollout.
