Russ Hill from Crashzone sent us this story about a meeting between two panel shops with the same name but many miles apart.
Michael Johns owns The Panel Shop in Perth and Jason Polentas, The Panel Shop on the Gold Coast. Johns and his heir apparent, Matthew Johns took a trip to the Gold Coast and had the opportunity to visit several East Coast shops including Well’s Autobody, AMA Collision super Centre and Russ Hill’s Crashzone office.
Johns started his version of The Panel Shop in Perth in 1986 and Polentas started his in 2015. Both shops have grown from humble beginnings into good quality business, While Johns is focused on his Resto Work including the well-known restoration of the XY GTHO, Polentas has built a traditional suburban shop looking after a wide range of local vehicles - along with the restoration of his split screen VW.
The XY took two years working a week on and a week off as every panel was meticulously repaired.
Both men see a bright future in their respective trades.
