Australian-owned collector car platform RR Auctions is continuing to build momentum in the enthusiast vehicle market, with a diverse May catalogue headlined by celebrity-linked classics including a 1963 MGB and a Pontiac Firebird from the television series The Rockford Files.

The latest auction follows strong April sales results, including a 1973 Ford XA Falcon 500 Superbird which sold for $120,000, a 1978 Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino which achieved $108,000, and a 1971 Ford XY Falcon 500 K Code which sold for $97,500.

Retro Rides founder Cameron Jurd said collectors were increasingly turning towards specialist enthusiast platforms rather than general online marketplaces.

“The collector and enthusiast vehicle market remains incredibly active, particularly for standout well-presented examples with strong provenance and history,” Jurd said.

Among the headline vehicles in the upcoming May auction is a 1963 MGB from the personal collection of Australian actor and motoring enthusiast Shane Jacobson. Finished in blue and fitted with classic whitewall tyres, the car has reportedly been part of Jacobson’s personal collection for more than five years and will be offered with a personalised display poster.

The auction will also feature Jurd’s own Pontiac Firebird from the iconic television series The Rockford Files, where the vehicle was famously driven by actor James Garner.

According to RR Auctions, the Firebird last traded publicly through Mecum Auctions in Florida in 2015 and has remained in Jurd’s ownership since then. The sale will also include authenticated memorabilia belonging to Garner that was previously sold through Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles.

Additional vehicles featured in the May catalogue include a rare V10 Audi R8 Carbon Edition, a delivery-kilometre 2002 HSV GTSR W1, a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 Z51.

RR Auctions said the continued expansion of the platform, including motorcycles, reflected growing interest from collectors seeking trusted enthusiast-focused sales channels.
