BYD Australia has appointed Pickles as its sole auction partner under a new three-year agreement aimed at supporting the continued growth of Australia’s electric vehicle market.

The partnership will see Pickles manage the national remarketing and auction sale of BYD’s company fleet vehicles, utilising its established physical and online auction network, expanding EV expertise and broad buyer audience across the country.

The agreement comes as Australia’s used electric vehicle market continues to mature, with increasing consumer demand, growing familiarity with EV ownership and stronger confidence in purchasing electric vehicles beyond the new-car sector.

Pickles general manager of motor vehicles, Chris Shaw, described the agreement as an important milestone for both organisations and the broader automotive industry.

“This is a significant partnership for Pickles and a strong signal about the continued evolution of the Australian EV market,” Shaw said.

“We’re seeing increasing confidence in used electric vehicles from both private buyers and the trade as the market develops, pricing becomes more accessible, and understanding of EV ownership continues to improve.”

Shaw said BYD had become one of Australia’s fastest-growing new energy vehicle brands and that Pickles was proud to be selected as its sole auction partner.

“With our national footprint, digital platform, EV handling expertise and growing battery health assessment capabilities, Pickles is well positioned to support the next stage of growth in the secondary EV market,” he said.

BYD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stephen Collins said strong remarketing pathways would play an increasingly important role as the local EV market expands.

“As the Australian EV market continues to grow, establishing strong and trusted remarketing pathways becomes increasingly important,” Collins said.

“This partnership will help support a healthy and transparent secondary market for electric vehicles, which is an important part of broader EV adoption and consumer confidence.”

The agreement further strengthens Pickles’ position in the used EV sector as it continues investing in battery health assessment capabilities, EV-specific processes and market education initiatives.
