In good news for Uber drivers, Allianz Australia has expanded its Private Car Insurance policy cover to include use by eligible car owners for ridesharing services.
It follows recent moves by Australian state and territory governments to formally recognise ridesharing.
In line with the company's decision to include ridesharing services under its policy, Allianz will now provide Comprehensive, Third Party Property and Third Party Fire & Theft insurance coverage for Private Car Insurance customers providing ridesharing services.
Allianz chief marketing manager John Myler said that the adjustment is a sign of the times.
“Allianz is committed to its customers and their changing insurance needs.
"We recognise that there has been a change in how customers use their cars in the sharing economy and we want to ensure they can continue to trust Allianz to protect them as their insurance needs change.”
