New high transfer spray gun
The range of high transfer efficient spray guns from Cormack Anest Iwata has just been expanded with the release of the AZ30 HTE.
This new spray gun is part of the Air Gunsa family and uses the Anest Iwata High TEC spray technology.
Designed and developed in Europe with assistance from the Japanese factory, the AZ30HTE features a new nozzle and air cap design, low air consumption and is 15 per cent lighter than previous models. Reduced weight means increased manouvrability and less operator fatigue. Low air consumption equals reduced energy usage and lower running costs.
The AZ30HTE has a high quality buffed and polished body, an integrated air control valve and is supplied with a 600 ml pot. The Anest Iwata Mix & Spray one-cup mixing system is also available to suit this new spray gun.
Available in a range of needle / nozzle sizes, the AZ30HTE is perfectly suited to automotive refinishing.

Atomisation check
Transtar Autobody Technologies which offers, as part of its huge range of automotive refinish products, spray guns, has the following gun advice to auto spray painters.
Although it seems redundant, especially if you have owned your gun for years, you should regularly check your spray pattern and material atomisation.
Checking your spray gun pattern before each use will allow you to actually see if your material is atomising properly. Look at the outer edges of your spray pattern. If you see coarse (large) droplets around the outer edges this is an indicator of inadequate atomisation. If you spray under there conditions you will experience excessive orange peel, which could lead to unwanted runs or sags. The extreme bi-product could also trap solvents ‘leading to solvent pop and die back. If your spray pattern is correct the edges will look like fine, uniform droplets.
There are several things to consider when adjusting your atomisation: viscosity of the material (how thick or thin), material and shop temperature, percentage of solids and activator/reducer speed. Always remember that the viscosity of a product sprayed at 80 degrees Fahrenheit will be different from the same product sprayed at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Also note that high solids materials do not necessarily need to be sprayed out of a large nozzle. Spray pattern adjustments can be made by altering the gun's air pressure, fan pattern and material flow. If extreme adjustments are required you may need to change the fluid tip and air cap.
Transtar is marketed in Australia by Grech Sales and Marketing Pty Ltd.

Less air, better quality
Transtar’s low volume low pressure (LVLP) sprays are designed to produce high quality finishes in all applications, from high production, spot and panel refinishing and complete vehicle refinishing. The entire range of LVLP spray guns from Transtar features reduced air consumption for less demand on your air compressor, with the LVLP spray guns operating at 22 PSI input and 9PSI at the air cap which leads to transfer efficiency greater than 65 per cent resulting in less material being required for the same film build when using a conventional spray gun.
The guns work extremely well with solvent, waterborne and high build materials. All paint passages are made of stainless steel, with fully adjustable fan, air & paint volume for ease of use as well as being supplied with a 600ml aluminium spray gun pot as standard. No split plastic pots are eliminated. There is the option for 1 litre aluminium if required. The LVLP spray guns from Transtar are finished in a smart black pearl finish with colour coded control knobs for easy size identification.
The new range of LVLP spray guns can be purchased in 1.3, 1.4 or 1.8mm set-ups separately or in any of three different combination kits. Each kit comes with two tip sizes, a rebuild kit, an aluminum spray gun pot and a protective aluminum carrying case.

New EVO-T from Star
Following the successful launch of the Star New Century range of spray guns, the long awaited addition known as EVO-T is ready to hit the Australian market later this year. The new Star spray gun design is seen and an evolution in professional spraying. It has been in development for over three years and the patented air cap design is a radical progression in spray gun technology.
Spraying at air input pressure as low as 16PSI, the EVO-T air cap produces a unique air curtain which dramatically reduces overspray and delivers greater than 72 per cent transfer efficiency. This translates into noticeably reduced paint consumption and reduced environmental pollution.
The new design generates ultra fine atomisation and a highly defined spray pattern. The end result being an even, high quality finish that distributor GNG Sales says is unrivalled by anything in its class.
All EVO-T guns are manufactured with full anti corrosive internals making them compatible with new waterborne paint technology and other corrosive spray products. A gun body that is finished in black chrome not only looks great but makes cleaning easy.
The EVO-T is the premium gun design in the Star New Century range and is set to cement the Star brand as a premium choice for professional spray painters who demand quality.

Anest Iwata's new super-cup
The 'Mix and Spray' one-cup paint mixing system from Cormack Anest Iwata was originally designed to benefit users of Anest Iwata and Air Guns and spray guns only. Featuring a revolutionary gravity cup, the system allows the user to save time in preparing paint and to save cleaning time and materials.
A recent innovation to this unique mixing system is an adapter which allows Mix and Spray to be used with other manufacturers’ spray guns. This allows other users to take advantage of the mixing system’s many benefits.
The re-usable cup is graduated for fast, easy and accurate mixing. Any left over paint can be stored in the cup and sealed with the supplied caps. The patented air valve, with anti-dropping system, and no inner liner means there is no change in the rate of paint delivery through the spray gun’for an even flow and great finish.
The cup may be re-used or disposed of, at the discretion of the user. Re-use helps save the environment by doing away with the disposal of mixed paint. As well, less solvent is used so that less volatile organic compounds are released into the atmosphere.
Unlike conventional cups and paint containers, which have to cleaned after each use, Mix and Spray is re-usable, saving the need for constant clean-up, as well as saving time and cleaning material. Also, less paint waste means greater savings for the user.

Well matched with Color-Profi
To match a colour is a crucial step in automotive refinishing. What counts is speed and accuracy, as the human eye is very critical. Glasurit says that no other paint system in the world offers the colour matching ability of its Color-Profi system.
Only when there is no difference between the original finish and the repaired area will your customer be truly satisfied.
This is why the constant improvement of the colour matching process is one of the main subjects at Glasurit.
The Color-Profi System (CPS) is the heart of the Ratio-Color System. It is the result of many years of development work Glasurit has done to make colour matching as quick, easy and accurate as possible.
The Color-Profi System is as easy as it is brilliant. The CPS consists of individual colour swatches carefully arranged in a cabinet. The swatches are composed of colour chips sprayed with original Glasurit paint to allow perfect matching with the finish to be repaired.
The classification system comprises chips are sorted by colour groups.
If the colour of the vehicle to be repaired does not precisely match the OEM colour, the adjacent colour chips will give you plenty of alternatives to identify a matching variant immediately.
The Color-Profi System is a true colour-matching tool, which will quickly pay for itself if used consistently. Thanks to the regular addition of new colours, the system is always up to date, helping to save time and material. The Color-Profi System is a factor for success in every body shop.
Many automotive paint companies rely on their swatch selection which consists of colours printed in inks and dyes, but this is not a true reflection of the colour that is to be painted and might not reproduce 100 per cent to the colour needed. The Color-Profi System is 100 per cent reliable with results that can be checked on the spot.
Speak with your local Glasurit distributor to find out how to save time and money in the colour matching process or to see a demonstration of the Color-Profi System.
