C.N.R. Autobody
AWARDS 2007 AAMIAAMI/AP&P AUTOBODY REPAIRER OF THE YEAR REGIONAL WINNER (SMALL SHOP) NSW.
C.N.R. Autobody
It is 10 years since brothers Romeo and Camille Nader went into their own smash repair business in Bankstown. The current location is their third move,to a purpose constructed, highly functional double fronted building.
The shop runs four beaters, three painters and a detailer. The two brothers look after quoting and management while their wives take turns in reception. Equipment includes a Globaljig, Autorobot speed benches, Z racks, Inhab mobile Infra red units, two Lowbake booths and three prep bays, and Rupes overhead boom power centres. Paint of choice is Standox.
Previously, all glass R&R was sublet, but since buying a Fan induction heater, the shop does the work inside, along with moulds, and loosening stubborn nuts and bolts. Fan also supplied the shop with several welders, the latest being an inverter spot that can weld high strength steel.
Quoting is handled through VQS while shop management and scheduling uses the DuPont On- Track system.
The shop is everything a small shop should be. Its reception is compact, polished and welcoming to customers. Upstairs the offices and dining areas are elegantly appointed. Technicians are busy with a full schedule of work.
When C.N.R. moved just under two years ago, it left a small, single building two doors down in Exceller Avenue. The company kept it and has now turned it into a restoration shop. Romeo Nader is a keen restorer, especially of Falcon Muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. The restoration shop is virtually full of them. Of the legendary Falcon GTHO Romeo says "There were five hundred built and now there's about 2000 running around, so you have to be careful if you're buying one that its authentic."
A restored GTHO will now fetch nearly a million dollars at auction.
Back in the world of mortal cars, C.N.R. works for most of the major insurers. It is a silver PSR for NRMA.
