New head for Timken in Australia
The Timken Company, a worldwide leader in bearings and steel, has appointed Peter Storey, 50, to the position of managing director of its Australian operations based at Ballarat (Victoria).
Storey, who holds a Bachelor of Manufacturing Technology (Latrobe Bendigo) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Ballarat), began his career with Australian Timken in 1970 and has held a wide variety of middle and senior management roles within the company including that of plant manager. He also served a one year assignment in 1996 at The Timken company¹s headquarters in Canton, Ohio.
In January 2001, he was appointed general manager - sales and marketing and director of Australian Timken with responsibility for all market segments in Australia and New Zealand.
During that period, Australian Timken added to its traditional automotive, industrial, rail and heavy truck bearing business and branched out to include marketing and distribution responsibility for the Permatex range of automotive and maintenance products in Australia.
The company also signed a similar agreement with the Bardahl range of automotive fuel additives, oil additives and performance-improvement products.
These developments have further strengthened Timken¹s relationship with its automotive aftermarket distribution customer base.
A rapidly growing range of Timken Service Parts kits for cars, 4X4s, light commercials and trailers is another line of business that represents the new diversified face of Timken in Australia.
