These awards recognises excellence in an industry that is now struggling under the weight of ever-changing technology and on-going training while at the same time having to remain ahead in a competitive market.
AAMI national industry relations manager Maureen Joseph said AAMI was proud to continue its support for the Paint & Panel Repairer of the Year Awards.
"AAMI is delighted to again sponsor the Paint & Panel Repairer of the Year Awards for 2010, which marks the 15th year of our involvement in these prestigious," Joseph said.
"Since our sponsorship began back in 1995 there have been many changes in the smash repair industry and AAMI is proud to have been able to recognise those who have led the way in innovation and excellence through these Awards."
She said the caliber of the entrants to the awards mirrors the rising standards of professionalism in the industry overall, with repairers increasingly realising that their future in the industry is no longer guaranteed by the length of time they have been in business, but rather by the quality and efficiency of their operation, and the levels of customer service they deliver.
The competition judges panel shops throughout the nation, selecting a state winner in each class – Best Large Shop, Best Small Shop and Best New Shop.
A large shop is one that has more than 15 employees, and small shop 15 employees or under, and a new shop is one that has been built, or substantially rebuilt, and is less than 18-months-old in June 2010.
From the nominations, state-based judging takes place during June and July with the state regional winners announced in the October/November issue of AP&P.
The national winners are announced at a premier luncheon to be held in Melbourne in October which will be attended by a who's who of the industry to celebrate excellence.
