May - June 2002 Products: Versatile welding from Dataliner
Product spotlight
The latest Dataliner M11 spot welder is a big asset to any workshop because of its innovative design, claims the company. It is counter-balanced on a moveable stand which allows it to reach high turrets on cars and vans without any long heavy cables to lift and is therefore more versatile than most other makes of welder. It is also computerised to give consistently identical welds.

Lightweight spray gun
The W-300 spray gun from AnestIwata is a smaller version of the successful Anest Iwata W-400 gravity feed spray gun. The new spray gun is part of a series of new lightweight guns that are a result of an upgrade of the W-Series and LPH units.
The W-300 weighs only 403g, with a 200ml cup. Light and highly manoeuvrable, the unit fits easily in the hand and is designed to reduce operator fatigue. The W-300 is ideal for use in retouching work, especially for jobs like spray painting small panels.
Filling a gap in the W Series spray gun range, the W-300 is another High TEC (Transfer Efficiency Control) unit which outperforms conventional and, in most instances, HVLP spray guns for transfer efficiency.
Superior atomisation, coupled with a flat and thin pattern shape, provides excellent colour matching by allowing an even cover of paint over the full pattern width and a speed of application no different than using a conventional spray gun.
The W-300 is ideal for water-borne coatings, as all parts of the unit that come in contact with the paint are made from high grade stainless steel. The unique air cap design and higher atomising pressures make the unit ideal for use not only with waterborne, but also high solids paints. The W-300 is also available with a 600ml cup, in a range of air caps.

Compact paint spray bench cleaner
Ozone Pollution Technology has expanded its range of products with the introduction of the Paint Spray Bench Cleaner. This compact cleaner provides a practical and economical solution to controlling overspray when painting smaller items. It offers the same performance and safety features employed in larger, conventional spray booths. It is ideal for colour matching applications.
The filter media is manufactured from glass fibres and is supplied in multi-layered pads. When the outer layer becomes discoloured, simply peel off to expose the next layer. High efficiency fume or gas filters can also be added between the paint spray filter and the extractor rotor. The drive motor is rated for hazardous areas and is located out of the filtered airstream, providing maximum protection. Various accessories, including a turntable, flow rate damper and discharge duct kit are available.

Tornado blows impurities away
Protector has announced a range of further product enhancements for its Tornado modular powered air purifying and airline respirator.
The new T4B welding headtop features a cloth face seal that connects directly to the welding shield, offering high comfort and simple operation. Additionally, a new range of Protector electronic welding lenses are compatible with all Tornado welding headtops, and their auto-darkening properties are a further benefit for users. Further enhancements include a welding cape and flame retardant hose covers.
Tor-Weld is a full respiratory system for welders in one box, including a blower, battery, charger, welding headtop, welding lens and particulate filters. The system is an economical way to access the benefits of powered air purifying protection, and the option to upgrade to a full Tornado system at a later date is left open.
An additional headtop for the Tornado system has also been launched. The T8 is based on a proven Protector half mask, provides exceptional comfort and fit, and is available in two sizes. The low profile design makes it compatible with other types of PPE such as welding shields and goggles
Other new products include a new range of Smart battery chargers, and an improved polyurethane version of Tornado 9, a specialist conical hod for laboratories, pest control and the nuclear industry.

Safety and comfort easy as PVC
A dry-work area mat with the durability to provide safety and ergonomics in areas where chemicals are used has been introduced to Australia by the General Mat Company.
Safety Cushion No 920 is a 10mm-thick PVC producty that guards against workplace accidents, provides employee comfort and reduces fatigue. It features a double urethane coating on a raised slip-resistant texture that seals against liquid invasion and adds resistance to many chemicals and caustic cleaning solutions.
Supplied in a 'charcoal' colour, the mat features a yellow border to enhance visual safety properties.
According to Michael Siegle, managing director, General Mat Company, the product is ideal for businesses which do not operate in predominantly wet conditions, but which still need to guard against slips and falls in the workplace.
"A WorkCover Authority fine does not discriminate between mainly wet or mainly dry workplaces," said Siegle. "The product is the optimum solution for companies that don't often operate in wet environments and therefore don't require a mat with excess physical mass."

Loctite -- adhering to quality
Loctite are known around the world for their threadlocking compounds, adhesives, sealants, retaining compounds and ancillary products, and their new range of automotive products aims to simplify product selection and help repairers maintain quality during servicing.
"Automotive designers and engineers spend thousands of hours carefully specifying the right adhesives and sealants," says Loctite's Wayne Harrison. "The benefits of this work are often lost during vehicle servicing where these products...are either replaced by an inferior substitute or omitted during re-assembly."
"Only Loctite products work the same as Loctite products, and with the Loctite Automotive range, repairers will now have the right products and information needed to ensure...the integrity of the original design.
The range is reinforced by the latest Loctite Automotive Application Guide.
