Size does matter
Air & Allied Sales (Aust) launched its new 3" random orbital sander from AirVANTAGE at this year's Automotive Trade Fair and the product received an exciting response from the industry said Air & Allied's Marcus Ghikas.
Companies such as 3M are now endorsing the product, and the initial delivery of tools will be provided in a kit complete with Central vacuum tool, assorted 3M abrasives, interface pad, and woolly buff, all at a special introductory price of $399.00ea including GST.
"Even though we went into the show promoting the tool as a new sanding system for Spot Repair Technology we had every visitor that came to our stand say "what a great tool for denibbing. There are endless areas where this tool is perfect, namely engine bays, door pillars/jams and tight curved surfaces," said Ghikas.
The new tool can save repairers significant costs. Savings are achieved by reducing the area required to be sanded through the use of a smaller special pad, this in turn reduces the amount of body filler, sandpaper, paint and most importantly labour required.
"It is the most compact, lowest profile, most powerful, lightest sander on the market today," claimed Ghikas. "The sander has the lowest vibration and sound levels in the industry," he added. The unique 360 degree rotating swivel dust extraction hose fitting accepts RUPES and FESTO hoses without the need for cumbersome adaptors, whilst making the
tool more maneuverable.

Mild steel covered electrode
Electrodes are a basic staple to welding applications and can make the difference between a good or a bad weld. Sureweld 6013, a smooth running rutile electrode from Esab Australia, is one electrode that makes that difference.
Exhibiting superior restrike capabilities with all welding machines, including low open voltage AC machines, this electrode can be used in all positions. Sureweld 6013 exhibits excellent vertical down capabilities, as well as vertical up and overhead.
A mild steel covered electrode, Sureweld 6013 is the ideal, all-round rutile electrode where minimum spatter is required. The electrode is relatively insensitive to rust and other surface contaminants, and produces a smooth mitred fillet weld, with little spatter.

Talon goes to Rio
Talon Body Styling has released a full body kit for the Kia Rio. Chief designer Alan Kendall said the Rio was one of the most challenging cars he has had to work on due to its distinctive lines. "Take the bootlid for example. It has a compound shape that starts at the lower corners of the back window and takes a big sweep outwards before coming back to the tail lights, then going all the way down to the bumper. We had to come up with a complex wing shape that wasn't overpowered by the original styling."
Talon's policy is to retain as much practicality as possible, so even though the bumper is deeper than the standard, it doesn't extend as far forward at its lowest point. Ally that with a raised lower-centre section and you can still use gutter crossings without that horrible crunching sound, said Kendall.
