Adelaide repair specialists Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs is taking the health of its workers and the environment seriously.

Run by the Napoli family – Larry, Frank, Eddie and Tony – the repair facility in Adelaide’s northern suburbs is dedicated to protecting human health, resources and the environment.

"Our dedication reaches further than compliance with the law," Larry Napoli said.

"We have an occupational health and safety system in place which we strive to adhere to, providing a safe and healthy workplace fir our employees, customers and the general public."

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs practices effective pollution prevention operations, giving top priority to water prevention at the source.

"Our disposal of waste is managed and disposed of in a non-hazardous way and we recycle wherever possible," Napoli said.

Part of the process os becoming more sustainable has been the installation some two-and-a-half years ago of a Spies Hecker water-based paint system.

"With this, and our custom-built booths and Lowbake ovens, we have reduced the solvent and chemical emissions being released into the atmosphere by considerable amounts," Napoli said.

"Most recently we have joined DuPont Performance Coatings to endeavour to keep our workshop and our employees up to date with all the training available in the industry, which will enable us to eventually achieve or aim of being a shop that sets the standard for others in the industry."

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs is one of the largest crash repairers in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, covering more than 4000 square metres and employing more than 30 staff members.

The business is an RAA and MTA approved crash repair and mechanical workshop and has the equipment, technology and expertise to carry out a wide range of services and maintenance for today's vehicles.

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs was opened in 1966, trading under the name Smithfield Crash Repairs and located about 300m from the current location. Within a few years, the premises became too small and larger residence was found three doors down the street.

In 1972, along with a name change to Smithfield Motor Company, came the addition of mechanical repairs. In 1987, the current proprietors purchased the business. Throughout the 1990s many more renovations and extensions occurred as the business continued to grow in stature.

With the new millennium came a new name. Now with over 40 years of service, Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs continues to grow and service the needs of the community.

Smithfield Crash and Mechanical Repairs Paintless Dent Removal and has a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week towing service. This includes three tilt trays and one standard tow truck.
