Flawless Gloss, Victoria took the unusual step of taking to the internet to highlight a customer’s case - who also happens to be the owner's father.
David Mackow of Flawless Gloss Accident Repair Centre in Currum Downs, Victoria posted a video on YouTube entitled 'NRMA supporting bad repairs'. With the description: “This video was created to expose what is happening in the smash repair industry. Fighting an insurance giant can be extremely hard and costly. This car has sustained a hard hit to the under carriage and left suspension. In all this vehicle has spent close a one year in repairs and rectifications.”
Mackow said: “We knew the car wasn't right and the customer (John Mackow) couldn't get the car rectified.
“I expect all cars to be repaired to pre-accident condition. Over the years I have seen so much going on in this industry which is why I set up my own shop last year, to do things right.
“This industry has lost its morals and if we don't stand up and say something about poor repairs someone is going to die from driving an unsafe car.”
NRMA is discussing the matter with the repairer, but Paint and Panel understands the video doesn't document the full sequence of events, the number of repair shops the car has been through and the number of accidents that the car has been involved in.”
