A huge Holden recall is underway to correct a potential problem with the Electronic Brake Control Module.

The statement from the company read: 'Holden has initiated a precautionary safety recall on certain Holden Captiva (2007 - 2010), Epica (2008 - 2010), Viva (2007 - 2008) and Barina (2009 - 2010) models. The recall affects approximately 51,387 vehicles in Australia. A condition has been identified where, in some instances, these vehicles may on rare occasions experience some progressive reduction in braking performance due to a condition within the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). It should be noted that there have been no reported cases or complaints in Australia however when it comes to safety we always err on the side of caution and are therefore initiating this as a precautionary measure.

Holden is contacting all potentially impacted customers directly to arrange a free-of-charge inspection and rework. If any customer believes their vehicle may be affected or if they require any further information, they should contact their nearest Holden Dealer or call the Holden Recall and Rework Assistance Line on 1800 632 826.'
