Spot welders come in many shapes and sizes. They also vary in quality and capability. A good affordable unit that has proved popular in the smash repair industry is the Car-O-Liner CR510 inverter spot welder.
Designed to take today’s high and ultra-high strength steels, which require a lot of energy to weld, the CR510 provides quality spot welds and will not overheat. A full-featured unit, the spot welder is water-cooled and has an overheat warning, for added safety. Protection is to IP21.
The CR510 will handle up to a maximum 11,500 Amps, with inverter frequency of 2,000 Hz. Electrode pressure is up to 7 bars, with 5.5 kN force.
The welder features sophisticated software, with world class MMI interface to provide automatic control over the entire weld process. The MMI uses a very easy to use entry format. The interface allows the user to see detailed weld results, including welding current, time and squeeze pressure for every weld.
An optional WeldLogger software allows the user to record all welding data and analyse all the relevant welding parameters, including specific spot welding joints, material thickness, air pressure, welding results and more.
The welder also has a four cable system which quickly switches between double-sided welding and multifunction gun processes like single-sided welding, dent pulling and heat shrinking.
The CR510 ticks all the boxes for all-round use. This includes spot hammer welding, nut and bolt welding, moulding clip rivet welding, stitch welding and more.
The unit comes complete with three yokes: 80, 350 and 500. The welder also comes with a wheel arch kit, as standard. A range of other yokes and the Airpuller AP95 for professional dent removal are available as options.
The smart control panel has 11 operating modes and holds up to 40 welding programs. To ensure consistent current levels, current control compensates for heat loss and variations of the main supply voltage.
The CR510 comes with a support arm that follows the operator wherever the spot gun is placed. The yoke comes with a 360° swivel connection. Car-O-Liner also manufactures a range of MIG and aluminium welders for body shop use.
