Melbourne-based sports car company JOSS Developments allowed the world a peek at images of its first production model, JP1 at the recent Australian International Motor Show.
The high-performance supercar’s carefully styled body was clad in a unique Sikkens color.
The JP1’s sleek black is the product of Sikkens' partnership with JOSS Developments. It is a collaboration that forms part of this supercar’s Australian technical development programme. And given the first images immediate impact with both the Australian public and the international motoring media, combining the JP1’s beautiful shapes with a special Sikkens color has been a design success.
The mid-engined two-seat JP1 is the brainchild of company founder and technical director Matthew Thomas, an industrial designer whose background in Formula 1 and aerodynamics has helped produce one of the most stunning automotive designs in recent years.
Like the car’s chassis, the JP1’s chassis will be made from ultra-light-weight carbon fibre. The car’s skin will weigh only 45 kilograms, necessitating the lightest and highest-quality paint.
“The car’s exterior design has been years in the making so ensuring the right color finish is a high priority,” Thomas said.
“This exciting partnership is important for a variety of reasons,” said Joe McFadries, General Manager, AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings, Australasia and Japan.
“It demonstrates the depth of Australia’s design and engineering talent and is an ideal high-tech canvas on which to exhibit AkzoNobel’s Sikkens cutting-edge paint technology."
