An exceptional small shop which excels in every aspect of the body repair business. The Varrichhios are professional with a
captial P.
Every now and then you get out of the car on the award judging trail and a choir of heavenly angels starts to sing.
And judge Powell and I certainly said Hallelujah at the beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, tidy, organised, professional, safe and welcoming business belonging to Marianna and Carlos Varricchio.
Part of Master Collision Repair Specialists and AARN , this boutique shop is an example of how well smaller shops can run. The couple have owned the shop for 23 years and have made sure that they have stayed up to date with the latest repair technology and training.
The shop is one of the cleanest and tidiest we’ve seen. Every tool has a clearly marked place, and workflow is logical and efficient.
There’s no complacent ‘industry standard’ here. Not only is the business Green Stamp level three accredited, AARN green and using PPG waterborne paints, but the company has also invested in 114 solar panels to further minimise environmental impact.
Not only that, they don’t forget to tell their customers about it with a professional warranty leaflet given out with each job explaining how they do this and achieve pre-accident condition for cars.
As well as investing in regular training for staff and the latest equipment, including a Globaljig bench and Car-O-Liner Car-O Tronic Classic system, Welland Crash Repairs also uses Thatcham repair methods.
The company maintains a website and is on Facebook.
The panel shop is bright and organised down to the last nut, and the paint shop is clean and efficient. The Varricchios don’t just pay lip service to OH&S – they have adopted the new AARN OH&S guidelines – but have always been thorough in their approach to keeping staff and customers safe.
They have invested in putting in place processes for all aspects of work and customer handling which has paid off in the calm, efficient way all the staff go about their business.
Welland is also investing it its future, bringing on three apprentices: two in panel beating and one spray painter. All in all, Paint & Panel thought we had found the pot of gold promised by the Welland rainbow.
Powell’s comments
Carlos and Marianna have developed a well managed repair shop with minimum support staff, but full of the latest equipment. Built on a sound platform of operating procedures – a formula for success.
