The Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team has chosen Standox for putting the finishing touches on its F1 racing cars.

The finish for the new "Silver Arrows" for the 2011 Formula One World Championship comes courtesy of the German paints manufacturer, which has been appointed as team supplier by Mercedes GP Petronas.

Formula One teams make particularly high demands on the coating of their cars with Standox coatings delivering a perfect look to ensure that the Silver Arrows cars capture the attention of the international media and fans.

In addition, Standox said its paints offer a tough, glossy and long-lasting finish even under the most extreme conditions. Standox engineers have gone to great lengths to make the coating as lightweight as possible so as to stay within the stringent weight limits, the company said.

The agreement between Mercedes GP Petronas and Standox provides more than just supplying the finish for the race cars and all of the team’s show cars and trucks.

Standox also provides a technical training program to enable the team to carry out post-race paint repairs on site.

The specialists at Standox are optimally prepared for the challenges of the Formula One environment, the company said.

It is developing new and exceptional special-effect colours for its “exclusive line XL”, a range of sophisticated vehicle paints which meet the highest demands.

"We are proud that the quality of our paint systems has been recognised by the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team, especially considering that paints have to meet particularly stringent standards when competing in motor sports," Standox brand manager, Zvonimir Simunovic, said.

"We are happy to contribute our expertise to the next successful chapter in the Silver Arrows legend."
