Walcom spray guns have been in Australia for a long time although I have found that the name is not recognised by some spray painters.
Walcom spray guns are widely used in the U.S.A. Usually most spray painters stay with the same make of gun for an extended period. With the development of new technology in spray equipment, new spray guns are always entering the marketplace. How are these spray guns improving production in a smash repair workshop? The new generation spray guns use less paint as they have high transfer efficiency and the application of the paint is more evenly distributed on the panel.

The air and fluid control knobs are numbered for ease of use. Also the Genesi HTE (high transfer efficiency) spray gun is light weight and it has a good ergonomic shape. Working pressure is 2 ? 2.5 bar and the painting distance is 150-200mm. Nozzles available are 0.8 , 1.0 , 1.2 , 1.3 , 1.4 , 1.7 , 1.9 , 2.5. The gun body is chemical nickel plated and chromium plated. Needle and springs are stainless steel. The H.T.E also has a regulator on the gun so exact pressure is maintained at all times.
Fan pattern is excellent and the application of paint materials is easy although, as with all new spray guns, they take a little while to get used to.
Like a lot of leading panel shop equipment, the Walcom spray guns are manufactured in Italy. They are quality products and the distributor advises me that spare parts are always available. The spray gun comes in a plastic suitcase which also contains some spare parts.
Walcom manufactures a range of spray guns. Our training shop also tested the HVLP slim primer gun. The manufacturer states that this primer gun has over 80 per cent of transfer efficiency and the air consumption is only 200 ltr/min. It is also ergonomic and light. The application of primer was excellent. The guns stand out for their high quality nebulisation, thanks to the new aluminium caps which make this spray gun ideal for all types of primers.
