Benchtest Testing the K & H Body Filler & Hardner Automatic Dispensing System

To do quality repairs you need quality products. Most body repair workshops would have had problems with body filler. The problems may have been caused by using an inferior filler, incorrect mix of filler and hardener, air bubbles in the filler or dry filler.
When these problems occur extra time is spent on the job to rectify them. I have seen students mixing plastic filler in the ratio of five parts body filler and one part hardener. This incorrect mix only results in problems with the filler.
K & H has designed a new automatic dispensing system to overcome these problems. The system comprises a 16 litre vacuum processed drum of filler combined with a long circular tube of hardener. The unit delivers the correct ratio of body filler and hardener, with just a push of a lever. All you need to do is connect the air hose to the unit. With the correct hardener dosage it prevents topcoat staining, and it allows you to fill a large panel without the risk of the filler hardening during the application process. Working time for the filler is 4-8 minutes at 20°C.
The K & H body filler is easy to apply and it is recommended not to exceed 6mm in thickness. This is the same thickness for most other body fillers. The filler is easy to sand, using grit sizes from P36 to P180. After sanding you can feel the smooth texture of the filler.
Body fillers in 4kg cans always have problems with air entrapment and dust and dirt entering the filler every time the lid is removed. With the K & H body filler you never have to open the drum. The body filler is compatible with single and two pack paint systems and is ideal for use in automatic low bake ovens (up to 80°C).
I have used automatic dispensing systems in the past, and I have found the K & H to be a robust well designed automatic dispensing system. The advantages of using this dispensing system are apparent from the moment you first use it.
Remember, when using any type of body filler or paint, make sure you have the material safety data sheet from the supplier. This is a requirement of OH&S regulation. Also make sure all staff members read the sheets.
