A 15 storey car dispenser has been unveiled in Singapore, giving a completely new twist to the humble vending machine.
The 60 car showroom, opened by used car seller Autobahn Motors, allows customers to choose a vehicle they wish to view from a touchpad located on the ground floor.
According to the company, after the selection has been made the car is retrieved through a advanced recovery system which takes only two minutes.
Autobahn Motors general manager Gary Hong said the reason behind the vending machine design was to minimise the amount of space in an already dense cityscape, as well as standing out.
"We needed to meet our requirement of storing a lot of cars. At the same time, we wanted to be creative and innovative.”
Hong said developers had already begun to approach him, with many interested in using the retrieval system in parking lots.
Vehicles on show range from modern day sports and luxury vehicles all the way through to classic cars dating back to the 50s.
