Alexey Mikhaylov of GYS gives his key tips on how to get the most out of their equipment.
- Pick the right machine for the job: Use the spot welder, MAG welder, dent puller, or straightening system that’s designed for the specific repair. And stick with the original GYS accessories – they’re tested to work best with the machines.
- Keep your machine software current: When the software’s up to date, you’ve got the newest welding programs, updated material settings, and better performance. You also avoid bugs and make sure the machine is ready for the latest vehicle repair methods.
- Set it up properly every time: Check your power supply and grounding before you start. For welding, adjust settings to match the thickness and type of metal – whether it’s steel, HSS, UHSS, or aluminium. The choice of shielding gas and wire has to be precise as well.
- Keep it clean and well looked after: Wipe down electrodes, clamps, and nozzles regularly. Change consumables before they start causing bad welds. Check cables for any wear so you don’t lose power halfway through a job.
- Work within the limits: Every machine has a limit – don’t push past it. Overloading can shorten its life. Stick to the duty cycles to avoid overheating.
- Stay safe: Always use proper PPE – gloves, welding helmet, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Good ventilation is a must when welding or sanding.
- Store it right: When you’re done, keep your equipment in a dry, clean spot. Protect electronics from dust and moisture – they’ll last much longer.
