The Street Machine Summernats is the largest horsepower party in the Southern Hemisphere, and for Summernats 32, drifting is now adding even more horsepower to the party.

With smoke, noise and speed all part of the spectacle, drifting will fit right in at Summernats. Australia’s top drifters will be letting loose on the custom Summernats drift pad across Friday Saturday and Sunday of the ‘Nats for wild drift demonstrations.

Not only will attendees be able to marvel at the skill of the drivers and the specialised machines they operate, but free passenger rides are on offer across the three days.

Acclaimed Aussie drifter Jake ‘Driftsquid’ Jones can’t wait to unleash his mental 1,000hp BMW M3 for the Summernats crowds.

"I heard the Summernats fans love horsepower, so I'm coming this January with the boost turned up, ready to make some clouds, and I can't frickin wait," said Jake.

Nigel Petrie is a fabricator, car builder, drifter and owner of Engineered to Slide, and another huge addition to the drift team, bringing his incredible full tube chassis Toyota Hilux to show off in front of the Summernats crowds.

"I grew up going to Summernats so it's awesome to be able to take part with some of the best drifters in the country. It's Australia's biggest horsepower party and I can't wait to be back."

Jake and Nigel will team up with many other top Aussie drifters and their cars including Matt Russell, John Dreyer, Brad Tuohy and Ben Meir, all running under the direction of drift school operators Drift Cadet.

“We’re always looking at ways to build more value into Summernats for festival goers and drifting certainly fits the bill. These guys are crazy and we have no doubt drifting is going to be an awesome attraction, and what’s more, you can jump in and go for a ride,” said Andy Lopez, Summernats Co-owner.

The Street Machine Summernats proudly supported by Rare Spares is the place to be this January 3 - 6, 2019 in Canberra. Over 100,000 attendees and 2,000+ of the craziest cars in the country will buckle up for four days of tyre frying action. Featuring a Guinness World Record attempt for largest simultaneous burnout, the Burnout Masters, the colourful City Cruise through the main street of Canberra, Body Art Nationals, plus a huge music line up including Dune Rats, 360, Butterfingers and Brooke Evers, and much more!
