Shannons Insurance is once again throwing its support behind the Supercars safety car program, while Subaru becomes the exclusive supplier of all on-track support vehicles.
The new fleet of vehicles will feature a bold new look across all safety and course cars, delivered in partnership with Shannons Insurance, which strengthens its support of Supercars in 2026.
The evolved partnership arrives at a crucial time for the championship, following a sharp increase in safety car callouts since 2022.
The thrilling 2025 season saw unforgettable on-track battles, leading to 29 safety car deployments, underlining the importance of a responsive and reliable on-track safety fleet.
The Subaru WRX Spec-B tS will now take on that responsibility as the new safety car, with Supercars officials debuting the full fleet at the opening round in Sydney last weekend.
Supercars head of commercial Craig Dontas said Subaru’s expanded involvement, coupled with Shannons’ continued support, reinforces the championship’s commitment to safety and performance.
Mim Haysom, executive general manager, brand and customer experience, Suncorp said Shannons’ deeper involvement in the Safety Car program is a natural next step for the brand.
“As the insurer for motoring enthusiasts, Shannons has always had a strong interest in safety and protection within Australian motoring, so expanding our support of Supercars’ safety car program is a perfect fit,” Haysom said.
“We’re excited to partner with Supercars on this next chapter and look forward to seeing the new fleet — featuring the bold new Shannons livery — in action throughout the 2026 Championship.”
The new Shannons-supported safety, course and medical cars made their first public appearance at the Dunlop Sydney 500, February 20–22 at Sydney Motorsport Park, kicking off what is expected to be another action-packed Repco Supercars Championship season.
Alongside the safety car program, Shannons also announced 2024 Supercars champion Will Brown as a brand ambassador, joining the iconic motoring insurer across the 2026 Supercars season.
Brown will feature throughout the year in keys to the track broadcast content, taking fans behind the scenes pre-race as he showcases each circuit from the Shannons safety car.
