Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have expanded their strategic partnership with NVIDIA, signalling a significant step forward in the development of next-generation autonomous driving systems.

Announced in Seoul, the collaboration brings together Hyundai Motor Group’s software-defined vehicle (SDV) capabilities with NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence and accelerated computing platforms. The aim is to fast-track the deployment of data-driven autonomous driving technologies across both consumer vehicles and future mobility services.

At the core of the partnership is a push to integrate NVIDIA’s autonomous driving systems into Hyundai and Kia models, beginning with Level 2 and above driver assistance technologies. The companies say this will enhance both safety and convenience, while laying the groundwork for higher levels of autonomy.

A key engineering element of the agreement is the adoption of the NVIDIA Drive Hyperion platform, which will underpin a scalable architecture spanning Level 2 through to Level 4 autonomous capability. This provides a unified hardware and software stack designed to support continuous improvement through real-world data collection and AI model training.

Hyundai Motor Group is also positioning data as a central pillar of its autonomous strategy. By integrating vehicle fleet data into a unified learning pipeline, the company aims to accelerate the development of proprietary driving AI models. This approach reflects a broader industry shift, where competitive advantage is increasingly tied to the ability to gather, process and learn from large-scale real-world driving datasets.

The collaboration extends beyond passenger vehicles. Through its joint venture Motional, Hyundai Motor Group will explore further integration of NVIDIA technology into Level 4 robotaxi development. The move is expected to support both technological advancement and the scaling of autonomous mobility services.

Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice President Heung-Soo Kim described the expanded partnership as a milestone in delivering safe and reliable autonomous driving, while NVIDIA’s Rishi Dhall highlighted the combination of vehicle engineering and AI as central to future mobility.

From an engineering perspective, the partnership underscores the growing convergence of software, data and vehicle platforms. By linking SDV architecture with high-performance AI computing, Hyundai Motor Group is aiming to create a continuous development loop – from data collection through to deployment – that can accelerate autonomous system maturity.

As global competition intensifies in the autonomous driving space, this collaboration positions Hyundai Motor Group to strengthen its in-house capabilities while leveraging NVIDIA’s established AI ecosystem.
