GWM Australia is celebrating a major milestone, with total sales in the Australian market surpassing 200,000 units – a testament to the brand’s rapid growth, enhance product portfolio, expanded dealer network and strong customer support over the past 16 years.

Since its local debut in 2009, GWM has transformed from a niche player into one of Australia’s fastest-growing automotive brands. Consistently ranking among the nation’s top 10 brands, GWM currently sits in seventh position year-to-date, according to VFACTS national sales data.

In recent years, this momentum has been driven by a diverse line-up that spans the stylish and versatile Haval SUV range, the rugged Cannon and Cannon Alpha utes, the premium and highly capable Tank off-roaders, and the fully electric ORA. The portfolio continues to grow with advanced hybrid and plug-in hybrid options, while retaining a commitment to proven internal combustion engines to meet the varied needs of Australian drivers.

Australia’s strong performance has firmly positioned the market as one of GWM’s most important international growth hubs. Local buyers have embraced the brand’s combination of value, advanced technology, and competitive ownership benefits, helping drive GWM’s global strategy.

“Australia is becoming a significant cornerstone of our global operations,” head of marketing and communications at GWM Australia, Steve Maciver, said.

“Our local success will only accelerate as we continue to invest here – demonstrated by the recent announcement of product localisation with Rob Trubiani and our residency at the Lang Lang Proving Ground.

“We are proud to have handed over our 200,000th vehicle in Australia and sincerely thank every GWM customer for the trust they have placed in our brand.”

GWM says it appreciates its customers, dealers, partners and staff for their unwavering support and contribution to this achievement, as the brand looks ahead to a future of continued innovation, growth, and success.
