A new spray suit designed specifically for women working in automotive refinishing has been launched by Australian workwear brand Vesta Workwear.
The Vesta Apex Spray Suit has been developed to address what the company says is a long-standing issue in the collision repair industry – the lack of properly fitting personal protective equipment for female technicians.
Spray suits used in paint booths are traditionally designed around male body shapes, often leaving women in the industry forced to wear ill-fitting garments that can compromise comfort, movement and even contamination control.
Vesta says its Apex suit has been engineered with a tailored female fit intended to improve both usability and performance inside the spray booth.
The design incorporates a contoured waist and seat to provide better freedom of movement while working around vehicles during refinishing and paint preparation tasks. The company also highlights the suit’s streamlined profile, which is designed to minimise loose fabric that could introduce dust or fibres into paint environments.
Side access zips are included to allow technicians to reach clothing underneath the suit without removing it completely – a practical feature for workers spending long periods inside workshop environments.
The suit has been designed for use in automotive paint and refinishing operations, where controlling contamination is critical to achieving high-quality finishes, particularly when applying modern basecoat and clearcoat systems.
According to Vesta Workwear, the product forms part of a broader push to develop workshop clothing specifically suited to women entering automotive trades.
The launch reflects the growing number of female technicians working in areas such as panel repair, refinishing and vehicle restoration, where correctly fitting PPE can improve both safety and day-to-day practicality.
While the Apex Spray Suit is primarily targeted at collision repair and refinishing workshops, it may also find applications in other industrial coating environments where dust control and overspray protection are important.
As more women enter automotive technical roles, products designed specifically for female technicians are beginning to appear across areas such as tools, workwear and workshop equipment – an area the company says it intends to continue developing.
