For many social media might seem a little irrelevant and easy to put to the bottom on the 'to do' pile. Make it your New Year resolution to post regularly and improve your online presence - it's free and can bring in new business. Facebook has continued to improve and develop more practical uses for your business.

If you feel like you 'don't get it' then ask another member of staff to be in charge of posting regularly and of making sure your website is up to date and multi-platform friendly.

Whether it's alerting customers to new developments within your business, providing a digital avenue for customer service through messenger/chat or simply by allowing you, as a business, to interact with the local community and drum up some new business - digital is pivotal.

We urge you to continue using Facebook and to help here are some useful facts for posting:

  • 1pm - 4pm posts result in the highest average click through.
  • The peak time for the site is Wednesdays at 3pm.
  • The worst times to post are weekends before 8am and after 8pm
  • Posts with photos generate more engagement, with 53 percent more likes and 104 percent more comments.
  • More key posting times include 12pm - 1pm on weekends and 1pm - 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Here are a few posting tips too:

  • Keep it simple, don't get bogged down in too many words and points.
  • Know your audience, write posts you think people will engage with, not what you like.
  • Community engagement is vital, congratulate local clubs, associations or other local businesses.
  • Showcase your business outside of just the work you do; weekend activities, charity work and individual achievement by employees.

Don't forget the Paint & Panel Facebook page - we publish and share many stories exclusively on this platform so if you haven't liked us yet, then you are missing out.
