Chrome Temple, the Australian expert in investment-grade vehicles, celebrated its official opening of its first purpose-built 'Temple' in Mona Vale, Sydney late last year.

According to the organisation, this landmark destination is the physical embodiment of the brand's mission to unlock global access to automotive art through ownership, experiences, and community.

The Temple is expected to serve as a dedicated home for automotive enthusiasts, collectors, and investors, a cultural equivalent to a yacht club or golf club.

"Whether you’re an enthusiast, investor, or both, we believe the rewards of automotive art – financial and emotional – are richer when shared," Chrome Temple CEO, Lex Pedersen, said.

"Whether it’s the best of British, an Italian stallion or a Japanese performance icon, the Temple is designed to be a place where interest and investment truly unite, offering a tangible, luxurious space to experience these highly prized collectables and bring together automotive enthusiasts of every kind."

The project began in 2021 after a passionate conversation between Chrome Temple’s CEO and architect, Mark Hurcum (of MHDP Architects), resulting in early concepts that formed the basis of the now complete facility, which has been specifically designed to celebrate the automobile as art.

The Temple: A destination for celebrating and preserving automotive art

The new 1,092-square metre facility is a combination of investment platform, luxury storage, and community hub, featuring a series of curated spaces:

  • The Clubhouse: A members-only rooftop retreat. This elegant contemporary club features a motorsport screening lounge, racing simulators, and a sun terrace. It serves as the ultimate gathering space for enthusiasts to connect and relax.
  • The Gallery: A curated automotive art gallery presenting Chrome Temple’s finest assets, allowing investors to view, engage with and experience their portfolio in an intimate, museum-grade setting.
  • Luxury storage: Climate-controlled, high-security single collection garages and mixed-collection storage supported by Chrome Temple concierge services. Storage units (140sqm and 185sqm) boast high ceilings (3.55m) to accommodate car stackers, with each private unit including a kitchenette and bathroom, and optional space for an office or lounge.
  • Asset curation and brokerage: High-end brokerage service for automotive art, offering discreet, closed-door, drive-in/drive-out transactions for high-value assets in a fitting location.
  • Espresso bar: Open to the public, this ground-floor hub serves as the daily intersection of car culture and the local community, featuring rotating display cars.

Architecture Designed Like a Car

MHDP Architects' architectural philosophy ensured the building’s form was driven entirely by function, much like a car. The design is a neutral, elegant backdrop – a series of stacked, interlocking volumes – allowing the vehicles to remain the hero objects.

Architectural language focuses on graphic simplicity and purity of lines. Inspiration was drawn from the 1930s streamlining movement in cars, planes, and trains. Key features include:

  • Museum-level lighting: Lighting levels are more than double the Australian standards to highlight the vehicles.
  • Advanced climate control: A solar-powered air handling system constantly reads external conditions to automatically manage internal humidity and air quality.
  • Materials: Durable, appropriate materials such as precast concrete and metal cladding were used to instil a sense of movement in the static building.

Three floors of the world’s automotive greats

Across three levels, the facility will honour the world’s most iconic, desirable and high-value vehicles. Chrome Temple presents a curated selection of the world’s most rarefied machines, including: McLaren P1, Mercedes McLaren SLR, Ferrari 458 Special, Lamborghini Diablo SV, Mercedes CLK63 Black Series, Porsche 997 GT3 RS.

The first of many Temples

The Mona Vale Temple is the first of several domestic sites already in planning, offering an opportunity for real estate investors to combine premium commercial property with the added value of a luxury automotive brand experience.

The official Temple launch event was held on in December, setting a new benchmark for luxury automotive ownership and investment in Australia.

Your chance to partner in the growth of the Temple Network

Chrome Temple is actively progressing opportunities for additional Sydney-based sites across the central, south, east and west regions as the Temple network expands.

Conversations are welcomed with investors, landholders and development partners interested in participating in the acquisition, development or ownership of future Temple destinations. Parties holding suitable land, seeking a premium development partnership, or looking to invest in the Temple portfolio are invited to connect.
