The Car Craft Group continues its strong national growth, attracting more repairers who recognise the value of joining a trusted network of like-minded professionals. For many independent operators, the attraction lies in access to shared resources, supply chain advantages, training opportunities and industry insights, all designed to strengthen business operations and deliver a better customer experience. This collaborative environment fosters a sense of continuous improvement, making the Car Craft Group network an increasingly valuable asset for independent repair shops seeking growth and stability.
Victoria
The Car Craft Group in Victoria has four new sites in Victoria. AAA Smash Repairs have joined the group with owner operators Alex and Kailee Bath keen to move their business to the next level. “What I hope to gain from Car Craft is a greater exposure to the industry generally, not just what happens in Colac,” said Alex.
Victorian manager Darren Curry said the group is an ideal fit for young regional operators. “Car Craft gives them access to market-leading supply deals and direct contact with experienced industry mentors,” he said. “Car Craft is a great fit for young business owners in regional areas. It gives them easy access to market leading supply chain deals, and the ability to contact long standing industry leaders with a massive depth of industry knowledge”.
Board member James Sardellis is also driving expansion through several acquisitions. His first, Berwick Motor Body Works, led by brother Bill Sardellis, has strengthened the group’s metropolitan presence.
James then acquired Inland Motor Body Works, a respected country business formerly run by Mick and Samantha Murphy. After a difficult year for Mick, the transition offered continuity and stability for staff and customers alike. “It’s a quality, long-established business,” James said. “We’re proud to help steady the ship and build on its legacy.”
The most recent addition, South East Auto Repair Centre in Dandenong South, offers another strategic opportunity. “It’s a great business with solid foundations that aligns perfectly with our growth direction,” James said. With Victoria’s Car Craft network now targeting fleet work and business partnerships, the expansion momentum shows no signs of slowing.
Queensland
In Queensland, the network has welcomed Kallangur Smash Repairs, 25 km north of Brisbane. Formerly Mick Young Smash Repairs, the business has been revitalised under new owners Nick and Melissah Rose.
Both bring over a decade of experience from Eagle Smash, another Car Craft shop. “Joining Car Craft will help us grow, stay current and connect with people who’ve been there before us,” said Melissah. “The training, rebates and shared knowledge are invaluable as new owners.
"We feel joining Car Craft will help us grow and stay up to date with industry requirements whilst being supported by a network of like-minded people. The contacts we will make and the people we will meet, along with the experiences and knowledge shared will be invaluable as we learn to navigate ownership.”
The shop’s location fills a strategic gap in the network, enhancing the brand’s presence in the region.
Also joining the Car Craft Group is Killens Smash Repairs in Armidale — marking Car Craft’s 150th shop nationally. A proud family-run business celebrating 55 years, Killens represents three generations of repairers and is the longest-running body shop in the New England region and is approved by a number of OEMS.
Owner Mike Killen said the decision was driven by the opportunity to connect with peers. “The networking and shared experience were the biggest drawcards,” he said.
Western Australia
The Car Craft Group is pleased to welcome its newest member in Western Australia, R&R Autobody Repair Centre in the suburb of Carlise.
Rilan Gooriah had worked with Grieve Panel Beaters since 2018, and when Dean and Nicola, long time members of Car Craft decided it was time to retire, Rilan took over the business at the end of July. The new business is a family affair with his dad and mum involved, and along with keeping all the original staff, the decision to become a Car Craft Group member was easy.
