BASF Coatings has been awarded with the Green Impact Pioneer Award at the European Chamber’s 12th corporate social responsibility (CSR) Awards held in Nanjing, China.
The ceremony highlighted the unwavering corporate social responsibility across the European business community in China and honours excellence in sustainability across multiple categories.
The Green Impact Pioneer Award recognises European enterprises operating in China that have been pioneers in environmental sustainability, introducing innovative solutions or practices that deliver a positive impact on the environment.
The jury honoured BASF Coatings’ CathoGuard 800RE cathodic electrodepsition coating (e-coat) for delivering measurable environmental and operational benefits in automotive coatings.
The technology reduces freshwater use by up to 68 per cent per vehicle, lowers CO2-equivalent emissions by approximately eight per cent and improves material efficiency by up to 20 per cent, while meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements.
“CathoGuard 800RE is the tangible result of close, hands-on collaboration with our OEM partners, combined with the dedication of our global e-coat technology team, who validated this solution on customers’ lines while continuously going above and beyond to deliver best-in-class performance worldwide,” director, global e-coat technology at BASF Coatings, Dr. Audrée Andersen, said.
“This comprehensive excellence not only supports BASF Coatings’ sustainability priorities but also helps our customers meet ambitious Scope 1 and operational targets, advancing more sustainable manufacturing across the automotive value chain.”
Continuous successful deployments across OEM production lines in China as well as globally confirm the tangible results of CathoGuard 800RE. Customer trials and line data validate the water savings, material efficiency gains and reduced process costs.
“We are proud that BASF Coatings and CathoGuard 800RE are being recognised as a Green Impact Pioneer,” head of global sustainability – automotive OEM coatings at BASF, Stefanie Lang, said.
“This award highlights how our sustainable innovation creates a virtuous cycle, delivering both, measurable environmental and operational benefits while generating greater business value for our customers.”
