The Confederation of Australian Motor Sports (CAMS) has released a colossal 512-page book documenting the history of Australian motor racing.

Featuring over 1000 pictures dating back to 1904 and covers industry successes and scandals from death threats, prominent administrators, the discovery of bugging devices in an executive's office and disqualification of international teams.

The book also details the creation of the V8 Supercars and maps the future of vehicle safety for young drivers entering the motor racing industry.

CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca believes the book is essential reading for all involved in the business.

“It is a must-read for all motor sport enthusiasts and a must-keep for all involved in the management of motor sport at any level.

“It opens up on the personalities – the triumphs and trials – of some of the best drivers, officials and administrators, and covers events from the first ever motor race to the first Grands Prix.”

It's estimated that CAMS has contributed $2.7 billion to the Australian economy since its inception 60 years ago.

The body has also created around 16,000 jobs across the industry.

The book is now avaliable to purchase via the CAMS book shop.
