Allianz Australia will soon begin its search for a new CEO after the recent announcement that current CEO Niran Peiris was appointed to the Board of Management for Allianz SE as of January 1 2018.
Peiris, who has been with the company for 16 years, will be responsible for the Global Insurance Lines, Anglo Markets (which include Australia and New Zealand), Russia and environment, social and governance issues, taking over from Axel Theis.
Peiris said he was excited by the new role and the challenges that come along with the change.
“There will certainly be different management approaches as well as cultural differences, but I would like to think that some of my ideas from the other side of the world will enrich the debate and contribute to the company’s success.”
After joining Allianz in 2000, Peiris held roles such as CFO and was also acting president of the Insurance Council of Australia last month, after former president Colin Fagen left the position.
