Australia's worst highways

One in five highways in Australia is rated as 'high risk' according to a report by the Australian Automobile Association (AAA).

 The Australian Road Assessment Program (AusRAP) analyses the road safety risk of the national highway network based on traffic, death and injury statistics.

 

  • 17% of the nation's highways are now rated 'high risk', an improvement of six per cent since the last report in 2007.
  • 23% are rated 'low risk', an eight per cent improvement since 2007.
