Auto Skills Australia, formed in April last year, has already consulted industry and developed and endorsed Certificate IV in Vehicle Loss Assessing.
It is expected that training will commence in the first half of this year.
Have your say on training
Auto Skills Australia (ASA) is inviting industry opinion on what should be included in the ‘auto body’ qualifications which will be endorsed later this year.
This suite of qualifications will include a new Certificate IV qualification that is focused on individuals wishing to move from the tools to a lead technician or supervisor role. These qualifications will provide clearer career options for technicians within the auto body industry.
Specific skill qualifications, Cert III
ASA is also suggesting that the different trades within auto body have their own qualifications, focused specifically on the key fundamental skills required for each specific discipline. For example: automotive body repair, automotive painting, automotive glazing and automotive trimming, all of which will carry a technician title at Certificate III trade level.
