AHVRA celebrates a successful 2011
The Australian Heavy Vehicle Repairer’s Association (AHVRA) has reflected on a successful 2011.
The organisation says it has a strong membership and is in a sound financial position. Many repairers have shown interest in joining the association and will be considered in the new year.
2011 achievements include:
- Correspondence with the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) in regards to non-complaint workshops being authorised to carry out repairs by certain loss assessors.
- Presentation to the Institute of Loss Assessors on various issues and the dangers on authorising work to non-compliant shops (with possible very costly breaches of OH&S, WorkCover and environmental laws).
- Meetings and discussions with IAG to build criteria for written-off vehicles.
- Negotiations with insurers and agreement reached on realistic charges for labour rates, paint and materials, booth allowance, fiberglass repairs, chassis crush surcharge, freight, written off vehicles handling fees, towing environmental levies etc.
- Creation and continual upgrading of the AHVRA website.
- Meet and greet with the CVIAA (Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Australia) to form a working relationship for future Government submissions and the mutual improvement of safety and other issues affecting the heavy vehicle industry.
- Many corporate sponsors are continuing to support the association with others showing interest.
- Evaluation of water-based paints for the heavy vehicle industry.
