New high gloss clear

Permacron MS Brilliant Clear Coat 8040 is a new high-gloss, medium solids clear from Spies Hecker which provides flexibility and reliability over a wide range of applications. This is a top quality medium solids product which exhibits outstanding gloss and features high filling, flow, initial and through drying properties.
Built on the latest medium solids technology, Permacron MS Brilliant Clear Coat is a user friendly clear that can noticeably contribute to the productivity of the workshop.
Mixed two to one with Spies Hecker?s new Permacron MS Express Hardeners, (3333, 3344 fast or 3355 extra fast), the product sprays extremely well and dries in 30 minutes at 60° C object temperature. Flash-off time is five to 10 minutes. It also exhibits excellent polishing properties.
Suitable basecoats are Permahyd Series 280/285, Permacron Series 293/295 and Spies Hecker?s 'Fascination Colors' range. Ready to use, pot life is four to five hours at 20°C.

Heat resistant paints
Septone has released a new range of high quality heat resistant paints for engine touch-ups and re-sprays that can withstand temperatures up to 650oC.
Septone national sales manager, Rob O?Neill, said Septone?s engine enamel and heat proof were also suitable for a variety of uses.
?Engine enamel and heat proof paints can be used on just about everything under the bonnet,? he said. ?This includes engine blocks, alternators, differentials, oil pans, radiators, transmissions and valve covers, exhaust manifolds and extractors?.
O?Neill said Septone?s Engine Enamel and Heat Proof was not only suitable for vehicles, but also for a variety of other uses.
?We have put a lot of time and resources into assuring both Septone products are able to withstand heat, salt spray, strong solvents, fuels, oil and corrosion.?
O?Neill said while Septone?s engine enamel was heat resistant it was unsuitable for applications in areas of extreme temperatures.
?For areas where the paint will be subjected to extremely high temperatures we recommend the use of Septone 'Heat Proof', a scientifically advanced paint which is able to sustain temperatures of up to 650C.?

New gun from Cormack
Cormack Anest Iwata has just released the all new W300 Body Shop Gold spray gun.

Waterborne gun cleaner
Drester, which pioneered the first gun cleaner for waterborne paints, has introduced a new version: The Drester 1000 Aqua Cleaner.
The new cleaner has been developed in cooperation with leading paint manufacturers and can be adapted to comply with different paint systems.
?As waterborne paints are considerably harder to remove from spray guns than conventional pants, the Drester 1000 has been fitted with a pre-wash brush and rinse gun,? says Andy Miller from SAPE. ?The brush is fed with recycled water and the gun with fresh water, while the latter is designed specifically for effective high-pressure cleaning of spray gun paint channels."
The Drester ensures simple and efficient filtration of the fresh water. The Aqua Cleaner boasts an integral flocculation and water recovery unit, allowing water to be re-used or simply pumped away through an evacuation hose. ?The use of the filters makes for simple handling of paint sludge, and because of the unit's low water consumption the environmental effects are lessened,? Miller said.

Induction at the right price
The Autotron induction heating system brings the many benefits of induction heating to Australia. Induction technology is not something new, but the cost has previously been prohibitive for the collision repair industry. The manufacturer, Ajax Tocco, has developed an economical induction heater which makes the removal of windscreens, side glass, body mouldings and seized nuts much easier and faster, as well as gasless heating of chassis rails.
?We have spent months researching the safety and many diverse applications of the Autotron Inductor," says Terry Feehan from SAPE. "We are confident that we have the right product to offer and have the knowledge to recommend the correct safety equipment to be used in conjunction with it. Windscreens can be removed faster than ever before, side mouldings come off in seconds. In some cases the Autotron inductor can even be used to repair small dents such as hail damage."
Now many metal heating application previously conducted with hand held gas torches can be performed using the Autotron induction heating system.

Task of the mask

World first in masking
GPI Maskright masking film, a world first which has just been released to the Australian refinish industry, is already receiving comments from users.

Maskright masking film stops the gamble of using brown paper by eliminating bleed through, and there is no fibre contamination from torn or cut paper edges. Less masking film is used compared to brown paper as there is no need for double masking; it can be used for a second time for primer applications.
