The Kamatec fast drill can be used in conjunction with Kamatec Duradrills.
Special tungsten carbide drills will easily remove spotwelds in the BOR/BTR steels very quickly, and with much less fatigue to the operator.
This is achieved by supporting the fast drill pneumatic piston with an additional manual mechanism which increases the pressure to the surface.
The fast drill can also be adjusted so that the drill bit is not turning before it touches the spot weld surface. This avoids the carbide drill bits from breaking off the blades on impact. Also, a new transmission design avoids the drill bits overheating, which extends their lifetime. The Fastdrill Duradrill combination is able to drill high-strength steels up to the hardness of 62 HRC (Rockwell).
The hardness of the Duradrill is 3100 HV (Vickers), and offers a heat protection of 1100 ºC. The expected lifetime in use with BOR/BTR steels is 80 to 120 spotwelds, but the Duradrills can be used afterwards to remove hundreds of spotwelds in standard sheet metal.
