Congratulations to the winners of the Axalta/Paint & Panel Sustainability Awards 2013, announced last Thursday at the Sustainability Roundtable organised by Paint & Panel.

The competition this year was fierce and there were two repairers between whom we could not possibly separate, so we have decided on joint winners for 2013.

The winners are:

Maria and Tony Musico with Owen Streatfield, Axalta

Musico Smash Repairs, NSW

They are an incredibly forward-thinking, family business with a level three Green Stamp accreditation who tick off all 'green' boxes and invest heavily in their staff. All front of house staff have I-Car training and Cert IV in business and they also employ apprentices. Musico offers a variety of services to keep the money in-house - from having a baby seat licence, to in-house tyre service and wheel balancing.  They also repair headlights and bumpers for authorised use in repairs.

Marianna and Carlos Varricchio with Owen Streatfield, Axalta

Welland Crash Repairs, SA

Welland Crash Repairs have also attained a level three Green Stamp certification.  Furthermore, they have installed 114 solar panels on the roof of their building and use waterborne paints and energy saving equipment in their workshop.  Welland has a good marketing program, staying active and informed within the industry, and invest heavily in staff and apprentice training.

Paint & Panel editor Sam Street was joined by the owners of both winning shops, Owen Streatfield and Fadi Saada from Axalta, Connie Comber from ReImagine Business and Andrew Borg from Eclipse Environmental Australia.  Catch the full report on the sustainability roundtable in the Jan/Feb issue of Paint & Panel.

Congratulations again to the winners!
