AkzoNobel supplier to China’s Geely Motors
Geely Motors, China’s number four domestic automaker, has announced its approval of AkzoNobel Car Refinishes (ANCR) as refinishing supplier and partner for Geely Motors repair activities around the world.
Geely, which produces three brands and a wide range of models, exports to 40 countries around the world. It has authorised the use of AkzoNobel Car Refinishes’ Sikkens and Lesonal brands for all Geely distributor and dealers’ paint departments.
ANCR will also provide training to Geely’s overseas repair specialists at the AkzoNobel Car Refinishes Instruction Center in Shanghai.
In announcing the approval, Riken Song, service manager for Geely’s service department, said AkzoNobel’s record as an experienced coatings manufacturer with proven refinish technology, excellent support services and sales offices in all major countries.
Keith Power, AkzoNobel Car Refinishes, managing director Asia Pacific, said Geely Motors was rapidly gaining ground as an important automaker with significant presence in the fast growing market in China, and in many other countries in the world as well.
“Geely is also poised to enter the European and American markets,” Power said. “Gaining approval from Geely presents us with a major opportunity to grow along with them.”
Geely Motors began producing cars in 1997, and it now has an annual production capacity of over 300,000 vehicles. The company has recently been in the limelight, after announcing its intention to acquire the prestigious Swedish automaker Volvo from Ford earlier this year. It is China’s first independent and largest private automobile manufacturer.
