IT’S NOT WHAT’S inside a cordless drill that counts, it’s what comes out, according to Festool, the German power tool maker.
Festool asserts that it is the business end of a power tool that counts - the screwdriving power at the head of the
screw. In announcing the release of its latest T+3 generation of cordless drills, the 12volt T 12+3 and the 15 volt T15+3. Festool also emphasised its patented EC-TEC motor. The motor works without wearing because it does not have carbon brushes and it is fitted with an intelligent motor management system that converts the energy of the battery into performance without power loss.
Festool said that the T+3 has three major benefits: Greater screwdriving capacity, controlled power use and unique torque setting leading to constant speed and power with 25 settings. The Lithium-ion battery packs bring lighter and more powerful operation. Memory effect is avoided even though the battery can be recharged at any time. The battery monitor steps-in to ensure that the battery is not over-charged or overheated.
Festool originated the 1+2 warranty on cordless drills, battery packs and chargers, and is stretching the guarantee even further, adding an extra year to bring it up to three years’ warranty.
