Improve profitability with PDR

Dean Goudie from Ultimate Group, Victoria undertook the Dents R Us training in September 2008 and says it has given his business more flexibility, appeal and higher profits.
“The work we bill out on PDR gives our business a big boost,” he said. “The profit margin is massive. It costs next to nothing to do a repair as opposed to dents that need painting – these also slow the shop down. The customers are delighted when we can do a PDR and the insurance companies like it – it’s another string to our bow.
“Our workshop is in Yarrawonga, a rural area – it's hard to find a PDR technician. We got sick of outsourcing work so we do everything ourselves. This technique is even handy when you’ve just finished a new door and find a dint you hadn’t noticed before – it’s an easy fix without having to start all over again.
“PDR also gives us the chance to upsell – we can offer to fix the dints that weren’t included in the insurance work while we have the car in our workshop anyway. The course took two weeks. It took me a little time to get the hang of it, but some of the guys picked it up straight away. It didn’t even take six months to make back the cost of the course and equipment, which was around $10,000 at the time. I would recommend any panel shop owner to invest in this course.”
