Benchtest Testing the Panel Pro jig
BenchtestTesting the Panel Pro jig
There are various types of panel jigs or panel stands on the market. Most repair workshops would have a jig system that can hold panels when they are being painted. What is required is a versatile panel jig that is suitable for the holding of all types of panels. The Panel Pro is designed for holding bonnets, doors, boot lids and tailgates. I also used the Panel Pro for holding bumper bars and guards. Small repairs can be carried out on the Panel Pro, although the main function of the unit is to hold panels for paint preparation and spray painting.
Many repair workshops edge out panels in the spray booth, then fit them back on the car. After the panels are fitted they are then sprayed ? on the car. In my opinion a more efficient way is to paint the whole panel then fit it to the car. This will save time - plus the spray booth will be free for other work, as the panel has only been in the spray booth once.
The Panel Pro is a well made unit and is sturdy enough to allow sanding of panels using all types of electric and pneumatic sanding tools. Attachment of the panels is quite simple as there are various adjustable arms to accommodate them. The unit swivels through 360 degrees and you can tilt the panel to any angel that is desired using the tilt arm which only takes a few seconds. Another important feature of the Panel Pro is the 260mm diameter pneumatic tyres. The unit is easy to move around and the wheels will not get caught in the spray both grates. When the panel is attached correctly you can wheel it around without fear that it may fall off. One improvement that I would add would be to drill a 6mm hole in all the arms. That would allow any panel to be tied down with wire if required.
The main advantages of the Panel Pro are that the panels can be rotated through 360 degrees and the panel can be tilted to any angle.
The Panel Pro comes with a very comprehensive instruction manual showing all the various types of panel setups. The unit comes with a one year warranty which covers any faulty component part of the product.
A lot of thought has gone in the Panel Pro and it is evident that it would be an asset in any repair shop.
