Snap-On Tools has opened a design competition in search of a leading design, illustration or creative treatment to apply to a limited edition toolbox launching in 2015.
The competition comes after American cartoonist Donny Gillies signed up with Snap-On Tools in the US to design a character that reflects the brand. The results were successful, with the artwork gaining popularity and appearing on posters and even tattoos.
“We’re looking for our own Donny Gillies, someone who understands the power of having a personalised and limited edition tool box,” said Steve Jones, National Marketing and Sales Manager.
“Snap-on Tools is known internationally for producing some of the world’s leading tool box skins and decals, and we like to see our customers express themselves through the product they collect.
“Now we’re looking for our own local spin on a tool box design, something specific to the Australian and New Zealand market.”
The winner will also receive their very own toolbox, valued at up to $4000. The competition is live on Facebook as an app, and on the mobile site. It will be open until 15 August 2014.
“Snap-on Tools Australia might be selecting the overall winner, but we are leaving it up to the community online to vote for their personal fave,” said Jones. “The winner of the People’s Choice award stands to win an air hockey table worth AU$1,700, so it’s worthwhile getting your designs in.”
