PPG has received global repair approval from Honda Japan its NSX supercar.
Along with advanced new light weight, multi-material construction, the new NSX features a hyper-sophisticated power unit including a twin turbo V6 engine, three electric motors and a nine speed dual clutch transmission which directs the total system power of more than 410kW to the road via all four wheels.
Customers will be offered multiple three-stage colour options, including PPG’s cutting-edge ANDARO tint dispersion technology. This PPG-developed technology provides the ability to achieve deep, pure and more chromatic colours than is possible with traditional pigments. PPG coatings technology will be applied at Honda’s new Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, Ohio, where the second generation supercar will be produced. A team of PPG staff from Japan and the U.S. has been supporting Honda during the development phase and the step into production that will see the revolutionary vehicle make its transition from concept to the road.
Honda approves PPG for flagship NSX
Even before Honda’s all new flagship sports car, the NSX, reaches its first customers in early 2016, PPG has already received global repair approval from Honda Japan for the stunning supercar. Back in 1990, the original NSX was a technological masterpiece and the second generation is set to follow suit. Along with advanced new light weight, multi-material construction, the new NSX features a hyper-sophisticated power unit including a twin turbo V6 engine, three electric motors and a nine speed dual clutch transmission which directs the total system power of more than 410kW to the road via all four wheels.
Exterior styling is another spectacular highpoint. Every element of the low, wide and sleek aerodynamic body is designed to reinforce the car’s state-of-the-art credentials. Attention to detail can be found everywhere, including a truly dynamic colour selection. Customers will be offered multiple three-stage colour options, including PPG’s cutting-edge ANDARO® tint dispersion technology. This innovative, PPG developed technology provides the ability to achieve deep, pure and more chromatic colours than is possible with traditional pigments. And the close relationship with Honda goes even further. Indeed, PPG coatings technology will actually be applied at Honda’s new Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, Ohio, where the second generation supercar will be produced. A team of PPG staff from Japan and the U.S. has been supporting Honda during the development phase and the step into production that will see the revolutionary vehicle make its transition from concept to the road.
PPG has established close partnerships with OEMs across the globe which often involve a full spectrum of PPG services. For example, it has seen the creation of groundbreaking new coatings technologies and products, innovative new vehicle colours, the supply of premium quality coatings and even helping with on-line technical support and expertise.
