As promised last week here's the shops we visited on day three of judging in Victoria where we had the most nominations this year.
I have to say that the Tesla bodyshop in Oakleigh is very impressive indeed. For starters its absolutely massive, very well laid out (well they certainly have the space) and there is a lot of innovative approaches in different parts of the business. I was fascinated by the 3D printer and they have a very impressive and also huge training room where you can see the guts of the battery construction.
What's not to love about B&A Motors? Dom and Tony are probably two of the most liked and respected repairers in the country. It's always a delight to see them in action and the workshop is a constant work in progress that they refine and then refine again. It's another massive shop with over 50 team members who get to work with the latest equipment which they know how to use thanks to an embedded learning culture.
Stylefinish Autobody was a new one for me. It has risen from the ashes of a huge fire which totally destroyed the old workshop. With a blank canvas for the new shop, Franco Missaglia has created a spacious workshop with a dash of flair in reception and the offices.
We finished up at the absolutely stunning Chelsea Autobody. This crew keep their lovely workshop squeaky clean and the attention to detail is evident throughout the business. The paint room looks like a laboratory; the lighting is excellent and the gorgeous wood panelling even extends into the workshop.
